Polskie Radio website blocked in Belarus

08.08.2022, 11:07

Belarus blocked access to the Polskie Radio portal polskieradio.pl. European Pravda reports this, citing Polskie Radio's Belarusian service.

After the Belarusian authorities declared the Polskie Radio portal "extremist" in late July, the access to it was still open for almost a week.

The content of Polskie Radio's Belarusian service is available in Belarus via VPN, as well as on the radio.

News from the Belarusian service of Polskie Radio can still be heard throughout Belarus three times a day on long 225 kHz waves.

Lukashenka's regime has been actively suppressing independent media, especially in the past two years, blocking access to websites, declaring them extremist, and preventing the printing and distribution of newspapers.

On August 4, a court in Gomel, Belarus, sentenced Polish TVP journalist Iryna Slawnikowa, who also worked with Belsat, to five years in prison for "extremism."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland has summoned the temporary representative of Belarus with regards to the ruling.
