State authorities, news outlets, local government bodies, education establishments, businesses, institutions and organisations, banks, and individuals received threats of bombs planted in their buildings on 30 January starting at 09:30, the National Police reported in a Facebook post. Valentyna Troyan, the Institute of Mass Information representative in Luhansk oblast, also received an email with bomb threats.

Detector Media reported receiving a similar email as well.

As of 12:10, police departments had received over 2,000 bomb reports in the following oblasts:

  • Vinnytsia;
  • Volyn;
  • Dnipropetrovsk;
  • Donetsk;
  • Zakarpattia;
  • Zaporizhzhia;
  • Ivano-Frankivsk;
  • Kyiv;
  • Kirovohrad;
  • Lviv;
  • Kyiv city;
  • Mykolaiv;
  • Odesa;
  • Poltava;
  • Rivne;
  • Sumy;
  • Ternopil;
  • Kharkiv;
  • Khmelnytskyi;
  • Cherkasy;
  • Chernivtsi;
  • Chernihiv.

The National Police said that nearly 30% of reports had been processed, with no bombs found.

As IMI reported, Ukrainian media professionals, state bodies, and businesses have been receiving bomb threats in waves. In November 2024, Hromadske Radio received an email with bomb threats. In December of the same year, five Zaporizhzhia-based news outlets received emails about bombs planted in buildings housing various institutions and organisations, as did Detector Media.
