Irpin police opened case on beating of founder of website "Narodna Volia"

Irpin town police department opened a case under Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (causing intentional minor injury) related to beating of the founder of the website "Narodna Volia" by Viktor Barakholenko. This information comes from civil activist and journalist of the website “Hromada Pryirpinnia” Olena Zhezhera.

According to her, on August 8, between 10.30 and 11.45 p.m., the private house of Viktor Barakholenko, who has been protesting against development in the forest area, was invaded by three unknown men, who came in through the window. They assaulted the house owner and cruelly beat him. Now Barakholenko stays in oblast hospital. Due to lack of police activity on this case (and three other people who suffered from similar attacks), the activists conducted a protest event at Kyiv-Kovel highway.
