Police identified two assaulters of cameraman Vadym Makaryuk. No one detained for now

The investigators have identified two persons who assaulted the cameraman of the news desk Vadym Makaryuk in Kharkiv Barabashovo marketplace on June 7th. This was possible thanks to the video records from the security camera. The deputy head of investigative department of the police in Kharkiv region Serhiy Chyzh told it at the press conference on June 10, as to Ukrinform. "We see who and how pushed Makaryuk... At present, two assaulters who used a vigorous force against the journalist are identified," he said, and added that the assaulters wore ordinary clothes. Chyzh also said that none of the offenders had been detained for now, as the police is gathering evidences. The investigators wait when the physicians will authorize them to speak to Makaryuk. Vadym Makaryuk was beaten on his head, as he was taking video pictures of the confrontation between some businessmen and administration of the Barabashovo marketplace in Kharkiv on June 7. He got cerebral hemorrhage resulting of this assault, he is in a grave condition at the hospital. The police instituted the criminal proceedings based on the part 2 of Art. 345-1 (“Threat or violence against the journalist”), part 1 of Art. 171 (“Obstruction to lawful professional activities of the journalist”) and part 2 of Art. 187 (“Robbery”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty for these offenses is up to 10 years of imprisonment. The police has not yet recognized as aggrieved person Vadym Makaryuk, cameraman for Triolan TV channel who had been gravely injured while filming the conflict on June 7 at the Barabashovo shopping center in Kharkiv.
