During the Euromaidan times, Oleh Boiko was mentioned as one of the officials in charge of the so-called "anti-terrorist operation" against Maidan protesters in Kyiv. He was in charge of shutting down the TV channels "Espreso.TV", TVi, Channel 5, as Espreso.TV reminds. The reason why it surfaces now is that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko assigned Oleh Boiko the head of Security Service of Ukraine in Cherkaska oblast. This information was provided by the press service of the President of Ukraine. As the channel managed to investigate, Boiko was in charge of the Security Service of Ukraine department controlling mass media ("Department M").
