Parliamentary committee for counteraction to corruption requested not to allow journalists for their session

20.03.2018, 12:52
Acting head of the Parliamentary Committee for prevention and counteraction to corruption, Yuriy Savchuk, requested to forbid journalists to cover the meeting that will take place on March 21. He stated this on March 19 at the coordination council of the Parliament, “Ukrainska pravda” reports. According to Savchuk, some committee members block its operation. “Some of our colleagues, committee members, presently block the work of the committee, using their presence, or, rather, non-attendance, as a deterrent to prevent the Committee's work, as the quorum is not there”, he said. Savchuk offered to conduct the meeting of the committee on March 21 without mass media, as a closed session, “to prevent this misuse and politicization of the committee”. The media outlet also reminded that on December 7, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to dismiss Yehor Sobolev, MP from "Samopomich", from the position of the head of the committee for counteraction of corruption. After this, he still remained a member of the committee.
