Parliament voted for opening access to committee sessions

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved Law No.1228, according to which the sessions of parliamentary committees will be conducted in open and transparent manner, except the cases where the committee resolves to hold a closed session. The Law “On amendment of the Law “On Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine” concerning access of mass media to committee sessions” was approved by the Parliament on December 9, as the official web-site of the Parliament reports.

According to the law, for the journalists and mass media staff accredited for work in Parliament will not require any additional accreditation for committee sessions.
