25.01.2017, 11:47

PACE called on member states of the Council of Europe to be scrutinous in investigations of violent death of journalists. During the report they also highlighted the murder case of Pavlo Sheremet. This is stated in the resolution, "Attacks on journalists and media freedom in Europe", adopted on January 24, "Evropeiska pravda" says.

Assembly noted about 16 cases of violent death of journalists on the territory of the Council of Europe since January 2016. They noted the names of several victims from January 2016. Journalist of "Ukrainska Pravda" and radio "Vesti" Pavlo Sheremet is in the first place. He was killed by a bomb planted under the car, on July 20, 2016.

PACE reiterated that they don't consider investigations on murders of two Ukrainian journalists Georgy Gongadze and Vasyl Klementiev to be fully probed.
