OSCE special co-ordinator: Ukraine’s parliamentary elections free and competitive - Ukrinform

23.07.2019, 16:16
Ukraine’s snap parliamentary elections of July 21 were free and competitive and demonstrated respect for the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, as Ukrinform reported.
Ilkka Kanerva, Special Co-ordinator and leader of the OSCE short-term observer mission, made a corresponding statement at a press conference in Kyiv on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports. "The snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine on July 21 demonstrated respect for fundamental rights and freedoms. The election campaign was competitive, with a large number of candidates representing a wide range of political parties, although there were some violations, mostly in single-member constituencies. In general, the participants in the electoral process acted competently and efficiently despite the limited period of preparation for the elections," Kanerva said. Voting and vote counting is transparent and well-organized, with due observance of the necessary procedures, he added. Ukrinform
