OSCE official discussed with IMI's correspondent press freedom condition in Volyn region

On May 30th, OSCE observer Walter Fuggher met IMI’s correpondent in Volyn region Maya Golub and to get to know the press freedom condition in the region. In particular, OSCE officials met local journalist Nataliya Kamyshnykova who was threatened with murder. As IMI reported, Nataliya Kamyshnykova, journalist working for web-based edition “Radar” claimed to got murder threat. Recently, some unknown persons made an attempt to arson her house. Other journalists, namely Volodymyr Danylyuk, editor of Volyn Gazette and deputy chairman of the Volyn branch of National union of journalists and also Oksana Shvets, head of the Volyn branch of the Independent Media Union attended the meeting. During the meeting, Maya Golub noted that since the beginning of the year, IMI recorded nine violations of journalists' rights in Volyn region. In particular, threats to journalists, sending phishing e-mails to get access to gmail and physical assaults.
