On November 2, online briefing "Persecution of journalists in Ukraine: how to stop it?"

On November 2, at 14:00, an online briefing “Persecution of journalists in Ukraine: how to stop it?” will be held on occasion of the UN International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists.

The following issues will be discussed during the round table:

-What is about investigation of attacks on journalists and interference with journalistic activity in Ukraine? 

-What systematically prevents the progress while investigating crimes against journalists? 

-Have the media representatives get more protected since last year and a half after the shift in power in Ukraine? 

-What is about mass media activbity in the occupied Crimea and how to obtain liberation of imprisoned citizens journalists from "Crimean Solidarity"? 

-What steps should the Ukrainian authorities take to contribute in improving the protection of journalists' rights in Ukraine?

Speakers:

Oksana Romanyuk, Executive Director of the Institute of Mass Information;

Lyudmila Opryshko, media lawyer of the NGO "Human Rights Platform";

Taisiya Kutuzova, documentary filmmaker who works with KyivPost, Radio Liberty and other media outlets, who had been victim of police violence;

Tetyana Pechonchyk, Chairman of the Board of the ZMINA Human Rights Center;

Lutfie Zudieva, activist of the Crimean Solidarity initiative;

Matthew Schaaf, Director of Freedom House in Ukraine.

The online briefing will be broadcast on the pages of the ZMINA Human Rights Center , the Institute of Mass Information and the Human Rights Platform . The event is held with support of Freedom House in Ukraine.
