On May 28th : round table “Prospects for anti-misinformation efforts: EU countries’s experience”

15.05.2019, 18:21
On May 28th, the Ukrinform news agency is to host a round table “Prospects for anti-misinformation efforts: EU countries’s experience” (Room #2), organized by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine. The round table is to begin at 10:00 a.m. (address: 8/16, B. Khmelnitsky St., Kyiv). The participants: Dmitry Zolotukhin - Deputy Minister of Information Policy; media experts, government experts and civil society representatives. A growing number of countries are recognizing necessity of mass media regulation, in particular web-based editions. In last November, the French National Assembly passed a law on efforts against manipulation of information, called by the media the anti-fake news law. This year, the Ukrainian government delegation had a series of consultations with French parliamentarians and representatives of other government institutions who back or criticize this law. During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Information Policy Dmitry Zolotukhin, who was involved in this discussion with the French counterparts, will tell how the law against fake news had been adopted in France, how does it work and what problems could be resolved with this law. During the round table the media experts, government experts and civil society representatives will discuss whether such a law is envisageable in Ukrainian realities and what are the prospects for regulating web-based editions in Ukraine. Accreditation: [email protected] . Contact phones: (044) 299-03-32; 299-05-01. Entry with service IDs and press cards issued by the National Union of journalists.
