In the system of the state-owned TV and radio broadcasting, 840 employees were laid off. This was reported to the journalist of the website “Suspilne movlennia” by the director general of the National Company Zurab Alasaniya.
As of July 1, 2016, the total headcount of the National TV company of Ukraine and its branches (former Oblast State TV and Radio companies, Channel Kultura and the National radio company of Ukraine) was 7,136 employees. Of them, 1,289 employees worked with the National TV Company.
The period of the 10% lay-off in question lasted three months. For comparison, in 2014, the National TV company of Ukraine had 1600 employees.
