National council fined NewsOne TV channel in amount 96 thousands hryvnias

February 7th, the National council on television and radio broadcasting has fined the TV channel NewsOne in amount of 96 thousands hryvnias ($ 3 527) or 25% of license fee for the language of hate, as to its web-site. In particular, the regulating agency revealed in the programs of the NewsOne broadcasted on July 31st, September 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and 13th 2018 appeals to foment a war or the war propaganda and stirring of ethnic, race and religious hatred. Also, the National council received a letter from the Security service of Ukraine (SBU) saying the news and analythical programs of the NewsOne have recourse to the set phrases of Russian propaganda, like “party of war”, “party of peace”, “fratricidal war”, “mechanism of schism of Orthodoxe Christianity”, “the international community did not recognize Russia as aggressor”, “Russia is defending its interests” and so on. The National council noticed the TV channel had a license to satellite TV broadcasting covering the territory of Ukraine and countries within the zone of reception of signals from rebroadcasting transmitter. “This fact indicated there is an option of a negative effect of such information to a large audience, population of Ukraine and of other countries, in particular of the country aggressor (…) and could provoke or motivate to some aggressive actions against Ukraine”, as to the National council.
