Mykolaiv mayor wants to close operational meetings from journalists "because officials fear mass media"

31.05.2016, 14:34

Mykolaiv mayor Oleksander Senkevych plans to conduct operational meetings at the city council without press, as, according to him, officials are afraid to report the problems at hand in the presence of journalists. He told this in his comment for “Prestupnosti.NET”. The mayor complains that the officials are not speaking out at the meetings where press is present, and come to his office later instead to report the problem, which makes the actual work of the city administration "twice as hard".  Instead, the mayor says he might just comment and answer questions of mass media representatives in the end of each week.
