The Economic court in Kirovograd region dismissed a claim against the newspaper “Narodne slovo” (People’s word) and Central Ukrainian news agency (CBN) which had been filed by Dolynska municipal council (in Kirovograd region). Municipal council required to dismiss the information on social welfare of ATO veterans (Anti-terrorism operation) in Dolynsky district published in the paper of Oleksiy Gora, journalist for CBN.
The story revealed some facts testifying that the municipal authorities failed to assign the funds for medical treatment of veterans of War in the Eastern Ukraine and their families. Oleksander Poddenezhnyy, lawyer for municipal council, required to dismiss some “untruthful” as to him information saying the municipal authorities failed to duly take care about the veterans. “This care in a sum of 8 thousands 100 hryvnias ($ 292) was assigned as welfare during the period of 2015-2017. For each of 400 veterans the municipal authorities allocated approximately 6 thousands of hryvnias ($220) per year”, as to the newspaper.
The judges stated to dismiss the suit on a full scale. The plaintiff has right to appeal against this judgment. “We are satisfied with the judicial proceedings and the results of the trial. But the plaintiff has the possibility to appeal, or there is too early draw to the line”, - Andriy Lysenko editor in chief of the newspaper told to IMI.
