MP Volodymyr Oliynyk tries to sue Shelazhenko’s newspaper for UAH 100, ooo

16.11.2014, 23:44

The People’s Deputy Volodymyr Oliynyk filed a lawsuit against the newspaper of Yuri Shelazhenko «Pravdoshukach» and demanded refutation of the untruthful information and compensation for moral damage in the amount of UAH 100, 000. This was reported by Shelazhenko on his Facebook page.

The lawsuit was submitted to Pechersky rayon court of the city of Kyiv. The defendant is the staff of the newspaper «Pravdoshukach» represented by Yuri Shelazhenko та journalist  Aliona Paliy.

The reason for the lawsuit was the article «Dictator-like laws as source of social disruption in Ukraine», published in No.8 (70) of the newspaper «Pravdoshukach» in 2014. Volodymyr Oliynyk insisted that, despite what Aliona Paliy wrote, there was no connection between his actions as the person in charge of counting votes during the session of the Verkhovna Rada on the date when the laws later called dictator-like were adopted and the killings of protesters on Maidan later.

The first session of the court was held on November 13, and Yuri received the summon on the evening of November 13, after the session was over.
