MP from "People's Front" sues journalist for 50 thousand hryvnias due to article about Vasyl Protyvsikh
People's deputy from “People's Front” Yuriy Tymoshenko filed to Kolomyiskyi city district court a claim against journalist from Kolomyia (Ivano-Frankivska oblast) Yevhen Halych and demands to refute the published information and to pay him 50 thousand hryvnias for caused moral damages.
The reason for the claim is the article published on the web-portal “Vilne Misto” ("Free City") on February 20, 2015, where the journalist analyzes the identities of the consultants and assistants of Yuriy Tymoshenko, in particular one of them, Vasyl Humeniuk, who allegedly was the man who tried to run presidential elections by changing his last name to "Protyvsikh" (literally meaning "Againstall" in Ukrainian). Although the article only hints it might be true, the deputy claims that his assistant is a totally different person, and that the article caused his reputation serious damages. The journalist already says that he has nothing to refute as he never stated it was a fact.
