Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Russia sends to Ukraine diversionists disguised as journalists

21.05.2014, 14:26

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a statement that Russia sends to Ukraine diversionists disguised as journalists. According to the director of the MFA department of informational policy Yevhen Perebyinis, these diversionists, like the detained LifeNews journalists, participate in criminal and terrorist acts on the territory of the Ukrainian state.

The LifeNews journalists Marat Saychenko and Oleh Sidiakin were detained on May 18 in the Eastern Ukraine. The LifeNews editorial office insists they were there on an editorial assignment. But the Security Service of Ukraine stated that these journalists’ task was to go to Sloviansk, accompany separatists and cover their activities. The journalists confirmed this to the investigators and signed the interrogation transcript.
