MFA Ukraine commented Moscow court decision on Sushchenko case

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its decisive protest in connection with the decision of the Moscow city court.

The Moscow court left without changes the resolution of the Moscow Lefortovo court from November 28, 2016 on the extension, until January 30, 2017, term of detention of the Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko. The message appeard on the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, on Dec.15.

“The persistent refusal of the judicial branch of the Russian authorities to change measure of restraint for non-detention and further court hearings behind closed doors attest to the continued psychological pressure on the citizen of Ukraine and the political engagement of the Russian judicial system," – MFA of Ukraine stresses.

“Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands from the Russian authorities to immediately stop travesty of justice and release arbitrarily detained Roman Sushchenko. The Kremlin has only one complaint to the journalist, and it is his ability to cover news about Ukraine in objective and unbiased mannner."
