Media outlets, journalists can apply for generators, charging stations, power banks
The international organization "Reporters Without Borders" (RSF) in partnership with the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) and the Lviv Media Forum (LMF) and financially supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, announce that applications for equipment necessary to provide Ukrainian media workers with alternative power sources in 2024 are now open.
In response to Russia increasingly targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and two Ukrainian organizations, the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) and the Lviv Media Forum (LMF), have joined forces to provide Ukrainian media with the necessary equipment for alternative energy supply.
This will provide support to the media in their work reliably and independently covering the news. We invite journalists and editors to apply for this support by filling out the form below.
Accepting applications from:
- media teams and local organizations that support journalists;
- freelancers.
Applicants must list the following information:
- type of their media outlet (online, print, television, radio, etc.);
- size of their media outlet (list the number of journalists on staff / state that you are a freelancer);
- scale of reporting (local, regional, or national);
- how the blackouts affect your work;
- desired quantity of each type of equipment.
The project provides media teams and journalists with the following equipment:
- generators, given only to media teams and local organizations supporting journalists;
- charging stations, available in two types: normal (≈ 500 W) and high power (≈ 1800 W). These stations will only be given to media teams and local organizations supporting journalists;
- power banks, available in models compatible with laptops (≈ 130 W) and mobile phones, given to media teams, local organizations supporting journalists, as well as freelancers.*
How to apply for generators, charging stations and power banks?

When to expect help?
Selected applicants will be contacted within two weeks. Please note that the amount of equipment provided and delivery time (up to several weeks) depend both on the equipment's market availability and the safety situation in a specific area.

*Freelancers can only get power banks. Charging stations and generators are reserved for media organizations, who can apply for one device per organization based on their size and type. Media teams and local organizations supporting journalists also can receive power banks for their team members.
