Lviv branch of "Right sector" demands that "Varianty" refutes and removes from its website satirical story about organization

18.03.2015, 01:51

Lviv branch of the NGO “Right Sector” demands that the online media outlet “Varianty” refures the information published on its website on March 4 in a satirical article “Demise of Right Sector” about the conflict in the organization's local branch, which split it into factions, and deletes it from its website. A letter with this demand from “Right Sector” was delivered to the outlet's head Iryna Marushkina and its editor-in-chief Oleksander Kovalchuk. “Right Sector” believes that the article in qiestion provides false information, which is damaging to the organization's reputation. The letter sets a deadline for this in seven days and if the media outlet fails to meet the demands "Right Sector" activists indent to file a lawsuit against it.

Marushkina points out that the letter contains no specifics so it is not clear what the media outlet has to refute. Oleksander Kovalchuk, who wrote the article, says it is political satire.
