LPR’s militants launched two FМ stations for Siverodonetsk

12.02.2016, 14:55

The city of Siverodonetsk, Luhanska oblast, is covered by two more FM stations with propaganda from LPR’ militants from the occupied territories of the oblast. This was reported in the story of Radio Liberty journalist Victoria Kovaleva. According to Kovaleva, several weeks ago such propaganda could be heard on air only in 40 kilometers away from Siverodonetsk, and now in the city, already two ФМ waves are broadcasting from the occupied territories.

The director of the Department of internal communications of Luhanska oblast Military-Civil Administration Denys Denyshchenko says that despite the hostilities in Donbas, the procedure of switching off channels follows the peace-time procedures and thus may take months.

According to Georgiy Tuka, the head of Luhanska oblast Military-Civil Administration, believes that the issue requires the national authorities’ political will to resolve as Ukrainian stations cannot change their wavelengths at will so the LPR militants easily scramble the Ukrainian stations.

The vice-Minister of Informational Policy Tetiana Popova came to Siverodonetsk and informed about the intention to erect the TV broadcasting tower on the territory under the Ukrainian control to cover the entire territory of the oblast with the national broadcasting signal, but she emphasized the Ministry’s mandate does not include scrambling the militants’ propaganda.
