"LPR" accuses journalists Roman Cheremsky and Valeriy Makeyev of being spies and threatens to take them to Russia

09.09.2014, 11:20

Kharkiv journalists Roman Cheremsky and Valeriy Makeyev are being held prisoners at the so-called Military command post of the town of Rovenki (Luhanska oblast). This has been reported by the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine with reference to Roman Cheremsky’s brother, Kostiantyn Cheremsky.

The journalists from Kharkiv got captured by LPR terrorists along with the filming crew of the TV channel «112 Ukraina» - the correspondent Hanna Ivanenko and operator Nazar Zotsenko – more than three weeks ago. The two teams went in one car, both on request from representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,

Ivanenko and Zotsenko were released with the help from Russian journalists, but Cheremsky and Makeyev are still held hostage by the Luhansk People’s Republic’s Gunmen.

According to Kostiantyn Cheremsky, Roman Cheremsky and Valeriy Makeyev are being kept in Rovenky by LPR gunmen under the terrorist Pavel Reznikov. The last update he received was on September 5 from friendly Luhansk residents that went to Rovenky specifically to check on the journalists. They said both journalists were safe and sound, but still in prison and under a danger of being escorted over to the Russian Federation as they are accused of being spies.
