Lithuanian hosting blocked Ivano-Frankivsk's website because of Roskomnadzor's complaint
On Dec. 7 Lithuanian time4vps hosting company turned off the server which locates Ivano-Frankivsk newspaper "Reporter". The decision was made because of the complaint from the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications of Russia (Roskomnadzor) on the news about the "Pravy Sector"(Right Sector). The hosting company sent the letter with such explanation to the editorial office, says the regional representative of IMI.
Provider explained, in the letter, that complaint came from Roskomnadzor on copyright infringement in material from the 13th of March 2015 - "Duc"Right Sector"announce the activation in Frankivsk region".
"We immediately started negotiations with the Lithuanian provider to find out the cause and resume our site. The website wasn't working for two hours, then returned to its place,"- says Andriy Filippsky, the chief editor of the newspaper "Reporter".
The editorial office is willing to switch provider to avoid future situations when the work of the server can be stopped because Roskomnadzor doesn't like the content of publications on the Ukrainian site.
As Andriy Filippsky added that last year they have had to change the provider in Kyiv because of the news about the regiment "Azov" which also caused the complaint from Roskomnadzor.
