Photo credit: UNIAN The Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko has filed a defamation claim against the General director of the "1 + 1" TV company Oleksander Tkachenko, as to Hromadske, quoting Klychko at the press conference. "We filed a lawsuit against the “1+1” TV channel. How one could talk about the impartiality of this TV channel, if its CEO is qualified as one of the main contenders for position of Kyiv Mayor ? There is no crackdown on press freedom, " Klychko said. He told “1+1” is used to throw mud at him and his brother. Klychko claimed that was a largescale campaign aiming to discredit him, among of instigators of it were Yanukovych's allies. IMI reported, The Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klychko will sue CEO of “1+1” Oleksander Tkachenko for defamation. “Lately, (there were) several manipulations in the programs on the mayor, suddenly it became more frequent. And manipulations unpleasant, I will file defamation claim”, – Klychko told. To remind, Oleksander Tkachenko is 9th in the electoral roll of the presidential party “Servant of the people”. For its part, the "1 + 1 media" group said they were ready to face the trial. "We will not succumb to pressure and we won’t stop investigation of corruption schemes and abuse of power either at the local level, or at the national level. So, we are ready to face the trial, but we are not sure that Mr. Klychko is really ready to go to court, at least on his own initiative, and not as a result of investigations of criminal cases over his activity in the capital ", as the media group official said. At the same time, the statement stated that "Mr. Klychko did not specify what caused his indignation," and also reminded that Petro Poroshenko had been scheduling to sue "1 + 1 media", but this did not happen.
