Konkurent chef editor Andriy Luchyk has filed an appeal against the verdict by the Lutsk City and District Court of Volyn oblast, which ruled to declare the information reported by the website as false and ordered the team to pay moral damages to the Lutsk School and University Catering Plant, Andriy Luchyk told Maya Holub, the Institute of Mass Information representative in Volyn oblast.
The website of the Judicial Authority of Ukraine reported on 4 March that proceedings had been opened in a civil appeal case in the Volyn Court of Appeal.
Andriy Luchyk said that the appeal had been accepted for trial, the composition of the court had been decided, but it was currently unclear when the hearing would take place.
On 4 February 2026, the Lutsk City and District Court of Volyn oblast fully granted the claim of the municipal company Lutsk School and University Catering Plant against Konkurent chief editor Andriy Luchyk. The court found the reported information to be inaccurate, ordered the news website to retract it and pay the plant 15 thousand hryvnias in moral damages.
The claim concerned the 24 May 2024 article which discussed the plant inflating the prices for food products for schools and universities.
