Dmytro Bahnenko, a journalist for the Kherson media outlet "Vhoru" turned soldier, went missing during a combat mission.

This was announced by his brother Volodymyr on Facebook.

"Our Dima is currently considered missing in action. We have been officially notified of this. We do not disclose the details, the geolocation, because it can be dangerous for Dima first of all," Volodymyr Bahnenko wrote.

Dmytro Bahnenko enlisted in the spring of 2023. He has fought in the Donbas and took part in the defense of Avdiivka, most likely as a combat medic.

Before the full-scale invasion, Dmytro Bahnenko starred in Roman Bondarchuk's feature film "The Editorial Office", which told the story of a Kherson journalist fighting injustice. The movie was presented at the Berlinale in February 2024.

While Kherson city was occupied, Dmytro filmed three months of his family's life for the BBC. Earlier, Dmytro Bahnenko spoke to the IMI about filming under occupation. Having left the occupied city, Dmytro joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
