On the night of January 21, 2013, in Odessa, police officers shot dead a criminal, who tried to penetrate into the premises of the Oblast TV-Radio broadcasting company, Ukrinform reported referring to the press-service of the State Guards Department at the Interior Ministry.

"Law-enforcement officials were forced to use firearm against an armed man who attempted to enter the premises of the Kharkiv Oblast TV-Radio company " - said Svitlana Pavlovska, the spokesperson for the police press-service.

"At 1.30 a.m., an unknown man smashed the glass door and rushed into the TV-Radio company building. The security staff did not let him get ahead and pushed the "panic button". A police detachment arrived in three minutes, "- Pavlovska said.

She said the attacker offered resistance to police, using knives. Pavlovska stressed that the actions of the unknown were threatening, so, after a warning shot, the police used firearms.

"The armed intruder was dangerous for both the police and the TV-Radio company, and for others in case, if he managed to escape," - said the police spokes person.
