Kharkiv media outlet 057.ua says SBU and Oblast State Administration forced them to take down news about governor's hacked e-mail account

28.08.2015, 13:36

Kharkiv media outlet 057.ua states that Security Service of Ukraine and Kharkiv Oblast Administration forced the media outlet to take down their news about the e-mail account belonging to Ihor Raynin, the oblast governor, hacked. The governor called the news "a fake".

The journalists of 057.ua took the material from the website of pro-Russian hackers who claimed to have hacked Raynin’s e-mail account, and published the content of his letters online. The author of the publication, Olha Kalenychenko, explained that the media outlet decided to publish the news after they confirmed the authenticity of several published letters by contacting the people who wrote them. Before the publication, Raynin refused to comment, but after the publication, the media outlet was severely pressured by Security Service of Ukraine and Oblast Administration officials to remove the news from their website.
