Journalists of Chernivtsi say oblast police does not cooperate

14.01.2016, 15:06

Journalists of Chernivtsi say that the chief administration of National Police in Chernivetska oblast does not cooperate, and request the acting head of administration Serhiy Piligrim to take actions so that journalists can receive information in timely manner. This was an open address of local journalists to Piligrim, which they forwarded to him during the session of the oblast council. The journalists complain that they can never get a timely comment of police representatives about the topical events, and have to print news without these comments. Also, even when the police officers agree to give a comment, they pre-record their message and avoid any live communication with press, which makes it impossible to ask any clarifying questions. This approach makes local police non-transparent, and is an obstacle to proper coverage of local news. This address was signed by 15 local journalists.
