Journalists in Kropivnytsky failed to get access to sitting of municipal council

Several journalists could not get access to the sitting of the Kropivnytsky municipal council dedicated to the 265th anniversary of the town. The organizational committee was to discuss several issues with purpose to prepare festivities. Kateryna Fedchenko, journalist of news portal “Point of access”, related this incident to IMI correspondent in Kirovogradska region. “At the beginning of the sitting, they insisted the journalists had to leave the session, as the members of commission “had nothing to say”, and because “this is working meeting”, “in the rough stage”. Almost all members of the organizational committee were indigned, they were saying “And who invited press?”, “Why are you here?”, “Where you got to know on sitting from?” And this was notwithstanding the fact the information was published at the official web-site of the municipal council”, the journalist told. Olga Zyma, editor in chief of the edition, claimed it was violation of the Law “On access to public information” and “On procedure of coverage by mass media of activity of public authorities and local government bodies in Ukraine”.
