Journalists in Dnipro could not attend public meeting of candidate for presidency Oleksander Vilkul

On February 23th, Anton Moroz, journalist for the “Dniprograd” edition was not allowed to attend the meeting with electors of the candidate for the presidency Oleksander Vilkul, as to the Civil network “Opora”. The journalist presented his pres card to the security guards at the entry of the community center where the meeting took place. But they replied: “Entry only by invitation card. No free seats”. The OPORA informed their observers who recorded the incident were not admitted to the meeting. Another journalist Oleg Cherneko working for “Glory of nation” (Slava natsii) was taken outdoors. He explained afterwards that they forbade him to film the meeting. Anton Moroz lodged a complaint to the police and asked to identify the security guards who prevented him from working. As to OPORA observers, before the meeting there were a great number of policemen round the building. Nearthe building they saw several groups of athletically built men. IMI informed last week, the journalists working for Pryamyy and 5th TV channels had not been allowed to attend the press conference of another candidate for the presidency Yulia Tymoshenko.
