A Russian drone, likely an Italmas model, hit a gas station in the city at about 11:15 a.m.

At the moment of the strike, the journalist had already finished refueling his car. Maksym Tkachov has been hospitalised with penetrating leg wounds and acupressure trauma.

Maksym Tkachov is a veteran media worker in Sumy. Before founding Sumskyi Kanal TV, he had been a cameraman for various regional and national TV channels.

The strike damaged two cars and resulted in a fire at the gas station, which was quickly extinguished by emergency workers.

The State Emergency Service HQ in Sumy oblast said that, according to preliminary reports, four people were injured. Rescuers, explosives technicians, and investigators were working at the scene.

According to open sources, the Russian troops started to actively use Italmas-type drones to target Ukrainian cities far away from the front line in the autumn of 2024.
