Journalist Serhiy Rakhmanin discovered that his office was wired

Vice editor in chief of the media outlet “Dzerkalo Tyzhnia”, Serhiy Rakhmanin, found a device for audio surveillance in his office. He reported this in his Facebook entry and published the photo of the bug, “Ukrainska pravda” reports. As IMI reported before, on October 28, the journalists of “Ukrainska pravda” published a statement where they demanded the President, Petro Poroshenko, and police/intelligence agencies to explain them for what reason they kept wired the office of the media outlet for a year. Before, editor-in-chief of “Ukrainska pravda” Sevgil Musayeva-Borovyk, informed that the conversations of the editorial office employees, including the journalist Pavlo Sheremet, who was killed in summer of 2016, were under audio surveillance. On December 12, 2016, SBU speaker reported that the Chief Investigations Deparment of the Security Service of Ukraine conducts a pre-trial investigation of the fact of audio surveillance of the journalists of online media outlet “Ukrainska pravda” as a part of the criminal proceeding under part 2 of article 163, and part 2 of article 359 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
