Mykolaiv journalist Oleksandr Diordiev was severely wounded in combat. He had enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The incident was reported on March 20 by the Economics Department of the Petro Mohyla National University of the Black Sea, which he graduated.

Oleksandr was severely wounded on March 6, 2024 and is currently in a military hospital in serious condition.

"He needs long-term treatment, and in the future – prosthetics and rehabilitation," the University wrote.

Oleksandr Diordiev is one of the first graduates of the Mykolaiv Mohyla University, majoring in "Finance and Credit" (2001), editor of the newspaper "Vahant", graduate student and teacher atPetro Mohyla National University of the Black Sea. He has been a volunteer actively supporting the army since 2014, and joined the UAF at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.

The journalist confirmed the reports about his injury on Facebook and expressed gratitude for the support.

"Thank you all for your support. Everything is fine, the current state of my health is such that crowdfunding won't help much. When I reach the point where my health can somehow be helped with money, I will consider it a victory. During the first hours and days, a lot of friends and acquaintances who knew about my trouble came to help me almost immediately. Thank you," he said.

According to the IMI representative in the Mykolaiv oblast, Oleksandr Diordiev used to be a journalist in his civilian life: he is the executive director of the information agency "Black Sea Business News" and the editor-in-chief of the publication "Maritime Business News of Ukraine".

As a volunteer, he took care of the eco-camping "Soul of the South" on Carılğaç island (Kherson oblast), where ATO/JFO soldiers and their families would rest and recuperate.
