Journalist of "Uriadovyi Kurier", who was threatened with death, says it is related to her investigation on embezzlement of state budget funds
The journalist who received death threats was the correspondent of the newspaper "Uriadovyi Kurier" (“Governmental Courier”) in Kharkiv, Svitlana Halaur. She says the threats and attack against her was related to her journalist investigation of embezzlement of governmental funds at one of the government-owned factories in Kharkiv, UNIAN informs.
According to Halaur, the attack against her took place on November 22 in the morning in the apartment building, in which her apartment is located – some men grabbed her from behind and pushed to the balcony. They told her “not to meddle with others’ business, lest you commit a suicide”, and bent her head over the balcony (it was the 13th floor).
Even after this case, the journalist informs, she continues to receive threats. Police official commentary to IMI regarding this case stated that the threats are “not related to the journalist’s professional activities”.
