Journalist of "Prestupnosti.NET", to whom judges refused to provide copies of declarations, filed claim to European Court

The journalist of the online media outlet «Prestupnosti.Net», Andriy Lokhmatov,  filed a claim to the European Human Rights Court in Strasburg, for refusal of Zavodskyi district court of Mykolaiv city to provide to him, based on the Law of Ukraine «On Access to Public Information», copies of income, expenses and financial liabilities declarations of all judges of the court for 2012. In Ukraine, he lost all instances of the lawsuit, at that the court resolution did not even refer to laws based on which the decision was taken. It only declared that the reason for non-providing declarations was that “judges did not give their consent to disclose this information”.
