Journalist from Rivne appeals to the European court

02.02.2017, 17:01

Journalist of Internet portal "Chetverta Vlada" Yuri Horbach appealed to the European Court of Human Rights. The reason for appeal is that  JSC "Rivnegaz" didn't abide the Ukrainian court decision on giving information about assets and incomes of its head, former deputy of Rivne Regional Council Petro Dubas, "Dostup do pravdy" said.

The plaintiff asks to adjudicate violations of Articles 6 (right to a fair trial), 10 (freedom of expression) and 13 (right to an effective remedy) of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The complaint was filed a few days ago. The proceedings in the European Court could take several years, according to preliminary estimates.

As IMI reported earlier, on Jan.12, Rivne city court obliges the police to open criminal proceeding against officials of JSC "Rivnegaz" because of nonfulfillment court rule on access to public information.  Decree of the court affected only one article - willful neglect of juducual decision. The Court requires the National Police headquarters in Rivne to put information from Yuri Horbach appeal to the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations under Art. 382 Criminal Code of Ukraine.
