Journalist from Mykolaiv complains that mayor's office now responds to request with delay

12.09.2015, 18:03

Journalist of Mykolaiv online media outlet «NikVesti» Kateryna Sereda complains that the administration of the local city council’s executive committee ignores the norms set forth in the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information", in particular, the obligation to provide a response to official requests of such information within 5 days. According to her, her requests were answered only in 8 and 12 days; at that she had to visit the office every day reminding about her request. In the end, all information provided in the response to the request was negative (the contract in question does not exist). The officials complain about excessive work and time required – but often, according to Sereda, she requests just a copy of a document they already have – not some new information that needs to be researched.
