On March 27th, the Henichevsky district court of Kherson region upheld the claim from Svitlana Yereshchenko, journalist and director of media center IPC-Henichevsk, to enter her in the list of voters of the local electoral constituency # 185. Such is the court decision dated of March 27th, as IPC-Henichevsk informed. The journalist’s residence is in the occupied Crimea, but at present she lives in mainland territory of Ukraine, so the department of state register of voters in Henichevsk district administration had denied to register changement of address of her new residence. Yereshchenko complained against this denial. The judges acknowledged her right to vote and referred to the article 24 of the Constitution and paragraph 4 of the article 2 of the Law of Ukraine “On Presidential election” which does not allow any restriction based on place of residence, so such restriction of right to vote of internally displaced persons can be considered as discrimination and violation of right to vote based on place of residence.
