Journalist from Chernivtsi summoned for interrogation in Saakashvili case

On September 12, 2017, the editor of Chernivtsi city web-portal “Bukinfo” Serhiy Zarayskyi  received an official summon for interrogation to the Chief Department of National Police in Lvivska oblast. The journalist says this is most likely caused by the fact that he was covering how Mykheil Saakashvili came to Ukraine on September 10. This was reported by the journalist in Facebook entry on September 12, and he also confirmed this information to IMI. According to the journalist, a nervous-looking investigator brought to him photocopies of two summons for interrogation in Lviv - on September 12 and 14. He said that the originals were not delivered on time. The journalist refused to officially accept the documents and leave his signature on receipt acknowledgement. As Serhiy Zarayskyi commented for IMI, he does not plan to go to Lviv for interrogation on September 16, too. He said he was very surprise why he was selected, as several other journalists were working there. Lather the journalist reported that some policemen brought him an official summon. One of the officers was a major. They claimed that the journalist is needed as an eyewitness of events at the checkpoint. The journalist insisted that, according to the law, the summon needs to be in original, and delivered in three days before the date of interrogation. For the context, in the evening of September 10, Mikheil Saakashvili, surrounded by his supporters, broke through the border checkpoint and now stays in Lviv.
