Journalist attacked in Kyiv, at scandalous development site

25.01.2016, 18:34

On January 22 in Kyiv, the journalist of newspaper KyivPost Vlad Lavrov was attacked by the representative of developer company that is constructing scandalous housing area "Bergen" for the Security Service of Ukraine, foreman Yuriy Kovalenko. The man grabbed the journalist by his neck and smashed his cell phone that was used as recording device. The journalist tried to investigate the construction site. The details of the assault are given by journalist Hanna Babynets at her Facebook page.
The construction site near the city recreational area, the Holosiyiv Forest, provides for construction of sixteen (!) 22-storey buildings. The local community is firmly against the huge residential area that will destroy part of the forest. The developers are using the facade of granting apartments to soldiers and officers to cover up the fact that the development is done mostly for profit -  only 327 of 3269 apartments will be granted to the families of soldiers and officers, the rest of them will be sold. Babynets noted that it was not surprising that the foreman attacked the journalist when the journalist asked him how many apartments will be granted to the families of the military and how many will be sold - because the public certainly would not be happy to hear the answer.
