In Zhytomyr, journalist savagely beaten

12.06.2017, 16:02

In Zhytomyr, on June 10 unidentified men savagely beat the camera operator of the media outlet “20 Khvylyn Zhytomyr” Ruslan Moroz. This was reported by the ІМІ representative in Zhytomyrska oblast.

The incident took place around midnight. Unidentified men were hiding in wait for Ruslan near his house. According to the injured, they were punching him quite professionally and for some time he lost consciousness.

As a result of the beating, the camera operator sustained numerous moderate injuries. An ambulance took Ruslan to the injury care center of the First City Hospital of Zhytomyr, where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Later, he was transferred to the neurosurgery department of the Herbachevskyi Oblast Hospital.

The attackers stole his equipment: a video camera, a photo camera, and memory sticks. They did not take his wallet or cell phone, so the police does not rule out that the attack was indeed related to Ruslan Moroz’ professional activities.

According to the Public relations department of the Chief Department of National Police in Zhytomyrska oblast, based on the fact a criminal investigation will be launched under Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery).

The newspaper’s editorial office offers a reward of UAH 20 thousand for assistance in finding the perpetrators. Those with pertinent information are encouraged to call 067 510 50 75, Oleksander Vasylkovskyi.
