In Zaporizhzhya, candidate representatives registered at polling stations as "journalists"

16.11.2015, 23:04

On November 15 in Zaporizhzhya, representatives of the mayor candidate Volodymyr Buriak registered as journalists from the local newspaper “Industrialne Zaporizhzhya. Panorama” at location of the District Election Commission 230844. The website of OPORA reports about this.

Buriak's representatives were more than two, and they tried to register as observers from the candidate at the same time. OPORA reminds that according to the Law "On Local Elections" only one person can be a candidate’s proxy at a session of the election commission. So, the activists registered as journalists. In addition, registration was improperly conducted: the registration date inscribed On November 15 was November 16, i.e., the tomorrow.

One more violation that OPORA registered was that there was unidentified people offering local residents a subscription for the newspaper “Industrialne Zaporizhzhya. Panorama” for free if they go and vote. At that, they were marking in the list of voters they had. OPORA representative started to ask the people, and found their supervisor overseeing their activities. But when this supervisor learned he was dealing with OPORA, he started denying everything, and said he was just a passer-by.
