In Zakarpattya, city council closed session from press

04.03.2015, 01:53

On February 13, in the town of Vynohradiv, Zakarpatska oblast, during the town council’s scheduled session the deputies voted for making the session closed from press. For this reason, all journalists were forced to leave. The motion to make the session closed was made by town mayor Stepan Bochkai without explaining the reason it was needed.

Later he himself told the journalists that at the session they considered three issues –  e  ils on was restored that the hackers were feeling out the t was desecration of the ukrainian the communal property director’s report,  the council secretary’s report and assignment to the position of a vice- mayor.

IMI media lawyer Roman Holovenko mentions that if the council had the relevant clause in their provisions regulating the sessions, formally they stayed within the boundaries of law, yet it seems none of the issues in question really required secrecy. Unfortunately, part 16, article 46 of the Law "On local self-government" leaves too much to the discretion of local deputies in terms of making their session closed, in fact it does not limit them at all".
