In Yenakiyevo, DPR gunmen abducted "OstroV"''s freelance correspondent

01.07.2014, 16:51

On June 26, in Yenakiyevo (Donetska oblast), gunmen of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People's Republic” abducted Oleksander Chernov, a doctor and freelance correpondent а of the informational agency «OstroV», reports informator.lg.ua. According to informator.lg.ua, Oleksander was abducted in the morning when he was leaving the hospital. Later, he called his family from someone else's phone. It is currently known that he was taken to Sloviansk.

The editor-in-chief of OstroV Serhiy Harmash believes Oleksander Chernov was abducted because of his cooperation with the online media outlet OstroV as Chernov became known in Yenakiyevo due to his articles.

On June 27, the self-proclaimed Commander-in-Chief of the DPR's Army published a statement in social networks, in which he explained that Chernov was 'taken prisoner' to be judged not only for his 'anti-Russian' blogs on 'OstroV', but also for refusing to treat a wounded woman from Kramatorsk because she was a separatist. It also became known that the terrorists decided on Chernov's punishment: a 'life sentence in the penal batallion', so now he is digging trenches near Semenivka
