In Yavoriv, deputy of town council tried to chase away journalist from commission meeting

07.03.2015, 11:50

On March 2, in Yavoriv (Lvivska oblast), freelance correspondent of “Yavorivskyi visnyk” and community activist Yuriy Kentsalo, who was recording the session of the commission for the issues of legality and deputy ethics and communal property, was being chased away from the session by the deputy of the town council Yaroslav Bufan.

According to Kentsalo, Yaroslav Bufan was drunk when he tried to chase him away. When Kentsalo called police, head of the commission Iliada Adamchuk advised the deputy to leave. Police did not respond immediately to the call, the correspondent had to submit an official complaint, and only then he took a police officer with him to clarify the circumstances. Bufan refused to cooperate with the police.

As IMI informed before, on January 20 Yuriy Kentsalo received threats for recording the meeting of the budget commission of Yavorivska town council. A pre-trial investigation on this case is pending, although, according to the activist, "they are letting it slide".
