In Volodarsk-Volynskyi, deputies expelled journalist from session room

13.10.2015, 00:21

On October 9 during the session of Volodarsk-Volynskyi village council (Zhytomyrska oblast), deputies voted for expelling from the room local journalist Serhiy Sivachenko, Zytomyr.today informs. As the media outlet states, the deputies were supposed to consider the issue of renaming Volodarsk-Volynskyi. The deputies invented many "reasons" for expelling the journalist – the session being "closed" (no press admitted), a need to file an application for permission to be present in advance, etc., yet the journalist believes that the true reason is that the public selected one name for renaming, and the chair of village council Valentyna Onofriuk wanted to push through a different variant. Journalist Serhiy Sivachenko called the police, and the local police officer told him he just received a call from village council and they complained about his behavior.
