In Ternopil region, head of village council assaulted Independent media union member

On January 29, the member of Independent Media Union of Ukraine Alisa Pasko was attacked by the chair of the council of the village of Dovzhanka (Ternopilska oblast) Oleh Tkach-Kotsiolok. She reported the incident to the IMI herself.

The incident took place at 2 P.M. at the session of village council. According to Pasko, she came to the session of village council and was admitted as a journalist. Yet as she tried to video record the session, the chairman and other council members started yelling at her, and to demand her to leave.

The chairman then, according to the journalist, assaulted her and dragged her out of the session hall, at that hitting her against heavy objects on the way. The chairman dragged her out of the city council building, the journalist says. She added that she was present at coubncil sessions several times before, and everyone knew she was conducting journalist investigation. Pasko called police and filed complaint - she says, a criminal case investigation was initiated based on this complaint.
